Why Should you Do Business with MLM?

1. When you call us, you talk to the owners. You are not lost in voice mail or a stack of messages, you get answers from Dan or Dave.

2. The committment to exceed expectations is instilled in all our people in everything we do.

3. Every day we ask...

  • Are we content with today's work?
  • How could this work be improved?
  • What will the client think?
  • What will the client tell others?
  • Does this work reflect the MLM mission?
  • Will this work stand the test of time?

4. Its all about people. We hire and train polite, kind, hard working people that do their job right.

5. We have been around for over 25 years. That doesn't happen by accident. We know what needs to be done and we know how to do it. If we don't know the answer we'll honestly say so and help find a solution.

The Design Process

When you meet with one of our landscape designers, it is important to estabish a comfort level and come to know that we are right for the job. When you decide to have MLM assemble a design for you we ask you to sign a design contract that simply states what you will receive and how much we will be paid.

Why Pay for a Landscape Design?

1. You get what you pay for. What would you think of an architect who gave away his work? Probably not much. Give-aways are disposable, at MLM you buy value.

2. Right plant, right place. We know what works where. If by some small chance we don't know, we will work to find a solution

3. Form follows function. We are here to help get you what you want. We will ask the right questions and use your answers to craft your custom outdoor environment.

As your landscape design experts we will create a unique design that is in color, to scale that will compliment the architecture and setting of your home.

Options to Consider:

  • Do you entertain outdoors? Do you have enough space for seating?
  • Would you like a fire pit?
  • Will children or grandchildren be on the property? Do you want to incorporate a swing set, sandbox, treehouse, etc. in your design?
  • Brick pavers or flagstone?
  • Pool or spa?
  • Would you like a Pergola?
  • Grill? Outdoor kitchen??
  • How about afternoon shade?
  • Any barrier free requirements?
  • What are your color preferences?
  • What are your plant preferences? Annuals, perennials?
  • What about water features? Pondless waterfalls, pondless streams, Koi pond...
  • Do you have any pets?
  • Would you like a manufactured block wall or a natural look with boulders?
  • Would you like a living roof?
  • How about a rain garden?

Native Plant Love

Each spring, a landscape designer from The Association of Grand Rapids Landscape Professionals volunteers to head the main garden display at the annual Home and Garden Show at the DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids.
Dan Monsma designed the 2007 garden with the theme "Look Out for the Native Plants," using both plants and hardscapes from the Great Lakes region. Dan chose to use native plants to showcase the great selection that we have at our finger-tips and show that plants we see everyday can be used to create an exceptional outdoor environment. The display was anchored by a mill with a water wheel and a stream that ran to a trout pond.

Employees from AGRLP member firms, as well as students from the Kent Career Technical Center completed the display in less than three and a half days.
